Mayra Esseboom has her M.Sc in Agricultural Economics.
She has been working as a researcher at the Centre for Agricultural Research in Suriname (CELOS) for the past 7 years. Her research is often in collaboration with rural communities and concentrates on the commercialization and marketing of Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs), the empowerment of CBO’s and micro entrepreneurs.
She produces popular writings and scientific articles and upon request she advises policy makers within her field of expertise.
She also mentors and advises students of the University of Suriname (AdeKUS) and represents the AdeKUS in the Global Environment facility / Small Grants Program (GEF/SGP) national steering committee.
In 2012 she was elected as co-chairman of the SGP.
